Drawing Improvements
This week was spent drawing a lot. We now have markers, pencil crayons along with our regular and fat crayons. They’ve been using each of them to make creations and we’ve been looking at how each one helps us make a different looking drawing. I noticed Chloe has improved in her drawing in leaps and bounds. Not too long ago, if given a blank page she just scribbled. This week, her drawings actually resemble things. In the third picture, Chloe is proudly holding up her picture; she drew John. Now he’s a little funny looking but recognizable as a person; round little body, arms, legs, eyes, mouth and hair. I’m so proud! {and she’s holding her pencil correctly!}
Of course, the week wouldn’t be complete without playing with our blocks or Lauri products
Decorating for Christmas
On December 1st, we decorated for Christmas. The littles were so excited about it. Our decorations are fairly simple; tree, a few snowmen here and there, stockings and a few outside items. Regardless of the simplicity, those few items, the lights and the music seem to transform our home. I love Christmas time!
Making a Gingerbread House
On December 3rd, in lieu of school we made a gingerbread house {thanks Nanny Granny!}. We’d never made one before. The littles colored while I assembled it quickly. I didn’t bother with fancy piping as everyone was too anxious. I just used the same thick holed bag to decorate as I’d used to put it together and piped it on fast. Then the fun began; the eating, the laughing and yes, some decorating! I’ll admit; I spent some time preparing mentally for this project. You see, I’d really have liked to have had the picture perfect house on the box; piped beautifully, candies in logical sequence in just the right area. But that would have meant me doing it myself during naptime and that certainly isn’t making memories and is no fun for the littles. I am proud to say that except the lousy, fast icing, the littles made this creation all on their own. I was impressed with the job Chloe did on the tree.
The littles munched on candy and begged to eat the house before we’d even finished decorating! lol. Thankfully the kit also came with two separate gingerbread men. I iced them quickly and told the littles they could decorate them. John started to cry. I asked him what was wrong, he tells me he doesn’t want to decorate his man, he just wants to eat him. So he did…every last bite!
I made the littles wait until Daddy got home to see the house and then they immediately begged to eat it. “Sure”, I said. “What part would you like to eat?” and Chloe immediately broke off part of the roof and happily munched away. It was a good day!
Munching our Gingerbread men!
