We had an incredible time at vacation bible school this week; lots of boys and girls, puppets, stories, crafts, singing. I headed up our nursery/tot class. Though Chloe was only 3 1/2, they let her attend so she was able to participate this year. She invited friends, cousins and neighbors, memorized her verse each day and had a great week. She even won a prize!
It was awesome to see so many little ones (and big ones!) attending. There are so many who do not know Jesus at all and some who have only heard about Jesus Christ when His name is taken in vain. This may be their only opportunity to hear about Him and we are trusted with the privilege. I was blessed to be a part of such an awesome week.
but
in the tiniest back corner of my mind, I secretly was lamenting the chaos it causes in my home when I am gone every day. The laundry piled up, dishes undone and a lack of peace. Then {because He knows just what I need!} I read this poem in our bulletin on Sunday morning at the closing ceremonies and it spoke to my heart. I’m thankful that our Lord knows just what we need and cares enough to provide for us! It never ceases to amaze me how the Lord shows His love and concern for me in the littlest, seemingly unimportant ways {which are very important to me!}. The Creator of the Universe is concerned about how I am feeling. Amazing!
My dishes went unwashed today,
I didn’t make the bed;
I took God’s hand and followed Him
To VBS instead.
Oh, yes we went adventuring,
The children and I –
Exploring the whole Bible
For truths we can’t deny,
My house sure was neglected,
I didn’t sweet the stair –
In twenty years no one on earth
Will know or even care.
But that I’ve helped a boy or girl
To noble adulthood grow,
In twenty years the whole wide world
May look, and see, and know.

Chloe and her Cousins on our last day of VBS (I’m in the mirror if you look close)
- Are you thankful? It’s Gratituesday today. Head on over! Want to participate in the 30 minute challenge? I challenge you!
- I have more VBS pics but tried to only post pictures with our friends/family in it so as not to infringe on anyone’s privacy.
What a wonderful testimony of kids learning about God & a mommy who was able to set aside the unimportant to see it happen! What a wonderful week it must have been!! 🙂
Jessica
Awesome & well done.
Your kids also learned priorities last week:-)
Love the poem and cannot wait until my kids and I can do VBS.
So glad you enjoyed the blessing of your experience.
I LOVE VBS! I was the director of our local VBS when I lived in Ontario, but out here they have their own way of doing it…so I’m not really involved. But I do love it! Especially the songs. I have the songs from 3 VBS’s on my ipod.
What a great poem! We start VBS tomorrow night. It is a rescue theme. I pray that kids will come to know Jesus through it. 😀
Love the pics! Good to see your little one keeps his hat on. 😉 Thanks for stopping by the blog!
How fun! We just had ours last week.
So nice to meet another sister in the Lord. Don’t you love in courage! Found you over there. I’m now following your blog.
