10 More Sleeps to Africa

It’s only ten more sleeps until we take off. Where are we going you ask? Oh, I’m glad you asked! We’re going to Africa!

We fly out of Toronto and into Paris, France where we will stay for a week. We were in Paris on our honeymoon and now, five years later, we’re heading back with two little ones in tow.

After our week in Paris, then we are heading on to the Congo, Africa to visit my in-laws. I know GiGi & Papa Gilles are excited to have their grandbabies come visit and hopefully they’ll be excited to see us too. We’ll be there for two weeks and then back to Paris for two days and then home. Whew. Exhausted just thinking about it.

I’m completely excited, but a little apprehensive too. Apprehensive about four 9 hour flights, staying in a hotel for a week+ with littles, different routines and also about the fact that I have no idea what to expect in Africa at all. I saw a video not too long ago of where my in-laws live. In it I saw beautiful houses and places but also areas of poverty.

Tonight I utilized my ListPlanIt membership. Wow, completely helpful to be able to download the exact list I need and type into it to customize it direct to me. The past two nights I have had trouble sleeping; thoughts swirling around in my mind about what to pack, what I have to do etc. Tonight doing a “brain dump” on to my ListPlanIt master list was a relief and I hope to sleep easier tonight.

I have so much to do before we leave.  Here at Beautiful Calling I have Sizzle This Summer coming up. In the next two weeks you can watch for Dezign with a Z along with Teva and a little surprise! Aside from that, it may be a little quiet around here as we gear up to go.

I hope to get some posts up while we’re away but life never goes just as planned so we’ll see!

  1. Hi, Jennifer, I was just reading your comment at The Gypsy Mama’s post today at (in)courage and clicked over to your blog. (I’m the author of the book she blogged about….) I see you’re leaving in a few days for Congo! Are you talking about DRC or Congo? I have a special place in my heart for both places. I wrote a lot about Brazzaville, Congo, toward the end of my memoir. I’m eager to follow your blog and learn more about your time there and your relatives. Small world, huh?
