Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Sunday 2010

Sunshine, Ergos and a nature trail = a family adventure!

Today is Thanksgiving in Canada and as Canadians, we have an incredible reason to give thanks. Our county has been abundantly blessed.

We have a beautiful country and the harvest season around these parts is more than abundant. We have religious freedom. We have a {mostly} stable economy, a government to govern, laws to protect us, a {slightly flawed} healthcare system for all and so much more.

As a country, we are blessed.

And as a person, I am even more blessed. I have a heavenly Father who is oh, so patient with me. I wish I parented my little ones the way He lovingly parents me. I have eternal life; a heavenly home awaiting me. I have an amazing husband who is learning patience {having married me!} and beautiful children. I have a beautiful house and have the privilege to make it into a welcoming home for my family.

Today as John walked along the hiking trail, he stopped, leaned down and picked up a rock, a stick and a leaf. He put his little hand in mine and simply said, “Mommy, I have everything I need.” So many times, in these little moments of life, I am taught so much more than what I am trying to teach.

Oh, sweet John. How often do I forget that that I have more than everything I need?

Psalm 69:30
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

Psalm 100:4
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
