Cavendish From the Farm

When I was offered the chance to participate in the Cavendish From the Farm blog tour, I was excited! You see, I have a life-long love affair with potatoes. As a child, my favorite meal was corned-beef-hash with onion and ketchup. My childhood breakfast staple? Frozen hashbrowns. And truthfully, not much has changed. I still love potatoes and most meals in our home include them!

My husband cooks most of the evening and weekend meals in our home but since I’m a stay at home mama to three tots, we’re on our own for lunch every day and often an evening or two. Mornings are usually filled with reading, adventures, walks, games {the occasional fight or a fit of tears} and fun. When lunch time approaches, I don’t want to spend a lot of time prepping. I want to be able to enjoy our morning to the last moment before we break for lunch and then everyone heads down to bed for quiet-time/nap time. We often have leftovers, sandwiches or a homemade soup that I put together that morning and has been simmering away. But we tried Cavendish From the Farm wedges and they were a huge hit.  Since lunch is a fairly small, simple meal for us, the Wedges were the main dish. We paired them with sour cream or ketchup and some pickles or sliced cucumbers or cheese strings. Hands down, the Wedges are my tots new favorite lunch.

We also have a few nights that we could call “fright nights” {and I’m guessing you do too!}. You know where you get home, have to eat and then dash right back out for something. Wednesday night is a little bit like that for us as we’re heading out the door for Awana at church.  Wedges, Fries, Rustic Reds – they all make the perfect side. Whether you’re planning to pair this delicious side with baked chicken, fish or hotdogs, they’re perfect.

Some highlights?

  • Canadian Made! Homegrown goodness from PEI.
  • Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.
  • Nicely seasoned.
  • Fresh taste.
  • Skin on – nutritional benefits.
  • Low in saturated fat.
  • Fast and easy as a main for lunch or a side for dinner.
  • Great for on the fly when you don’t have a plan.

The new Cavendish From the Farm line includes Wedges, Rustic Reds and Straight Cut potatoes. We’ve tried them all. Oh, and we’re also Cavendish fans for their regular products too. {Mama is still a hashbrown lover all these years!}

I’m angry with myself for having not taken a picture of our quick after church lunch today. The table was set with happy red plates, the sun was streaming in the windows while the snow glistened on the branches, a vase of tulips bringing a bit of spring color and a delightful smell in the air; a pile of grilled cheese sandwiches and a pan of crispy-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside wedges. It would have made an amazing photo. I realized this 1 hour and 41 minutes too late. But you can imagine it can’t you?
