Magic Cookie Bars

This fall we visited friends in Sioux Lookout, the Hochstedler family, where we had the most delightful dessert, Magic Bars. I asked for the super secret recipe and I’ve made it several times since returning home. Fast, easy and delicious!

I figure it’s probably OK to share since I also found a version of it on the Eagle Brand website 😉

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 (14 oz.) can condensed milk
  • 2 cups (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cups flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped nutsPour melted butter into the bottom of your pan (9×13 is what the recipe calls for though anything close to that size will work just fine!). Pour graham crumbs over butter evenly. Pour condensed milk over crust evenly and then layer the toppings {chips, coconut, nuts} over the top. Press down lightly. Bake at 350 deg. F  for 25+/- minutes or until slightly browned.

A giant pan of these just came out of the oven. I can hardly wait for them to cool. Hmmm…maybe I won’t!

  1. […] a snapshot of the baking because it looked yummy. Again, nothing fancy – just good. Those are magic bars, banana bread and orange pound cake you see there. Again, all baked in my favorite mini loaf […]
