Camp Fire Songs

IMG_1809

Tonight was the first night we had a fire in the backyard since moving to the new house. We roasted hotdogs for dinner! We all loved it {though poor daddy’s allergies were going crazy today!}

We spent a lot of time camping this summer. We have some tried and true songs for singing around the camp fire. We sing a lot of Sunday School Songs and others from our childhood such as:

  • B.I.B.L.E.
  • Jesus Loves Me
  • Jesus Loves The Little Children
  • Deep and Wide
  • The Bear Went Over the Mountain
  • There’s a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea
  • The Other Day I Met a Bear
  • Had a Little Rooster

But thanks to the guest speaker at Bible Camp this year we also learned a few more ditties. Reading them doesn’t do them justice. Maybe I should do a video post and sing them for you! Ha! I’d never heard them before, how about you?

Fried Ham

Fried ham, fried ham
Cheese and bologna
And after the macaroni
We’ll have onions, pickles and pretzels
And then we’ll have some more fried ham
Fried ham, fried ham!
Same song second verse cowboy accent little bit worse…
Same song third verse underwater accent little bit worse…

The Frog Song

"There’s a story from our childhood worth remembering.
It’s the tale of a prince turned into frog.
Now he sits all alone and rejected
As he waits for someone to come along.
For, you see, the only thing that will save him
Is a kiss from a princess fair and true.
But chances are that this will never happen,
For he’s ugly and lonely and blue.
Chorus:
Have you kissed any frogs today?
Have you helped someone along life’s troubled way?
Have you told them of God’s amazing grace?
Have you kissed any frogs today?
But then one day a miracle did happen.
A lovely princess finally came along.
She met him, and her heart filled with compassion,
And she kissed him, and this is what she saw:
That ugly frog was changed into a person,
And all his sorrows from his past had come to end.
Now he’s a handsome prince just full of God’s potential,
And all it took was a help of a friend.
Chorus:
Have you kissed any frogs today?
Have you helped someone along life’s troubled way?
Have you told them of God’s amazing grace?
Have you kissed any frogs today?
So Christian friend, won’t you heed the story,
For it’s moral is as true as it can be.
All it takes to change the ugly into glory
Is a helping hand to everyone we see.
Even though this may involve some sacrifices
The blessings will far outweigh the loss,
For the lonely we help in times of crisis
May trust the One who came to die upon the cross!
Chorus:
Have you kissed any frogs today?
Have you helped someone along life’s troubled way?
Have you told them of God’s amazing grace?
Have you kissed any frogs today?

GO KISS SOME FROGS TODAY!!

B.A.C.O.N AND E.G.G.s

Our brute Sal is four years old, a cheerful little hog
She’s our little farmhouse pet and smarter than any dog
She’s so smart we have to spell the words we don’t want her to guess
Like H.A.M. and S.P.A.R.E. R.I.B.S.

Chorus:
We’re having B.A.C.O.N. and E.G.G.s for breakfast today
And that’s her U.N.C.L.E. sitting on the breakfast tray
We’re careful not to use L.A.R.D. in our recipes
We can’t stop having B.A.C.O.N. and E.G.G.s

See her smile – romance has found her, yesterday she fell
Plumb in love with a F.O.O.T.B.A.double L.
But look, she’s squeezing it so hard the air’s all coming out
And I can’t bear to see them teardrops dripping down her snout…

I love learning new songs and the tots do too. What’s your all time favorite campfire song?
